Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), London

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) was established by the Meetings Mean Business Coalition to showcase "the real impact that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on people, business and communities".

SongDivision’s contribution to GMID was to use the power of music to bring an ‘emotional element’ to the campaign, as people remember emotions, they don’t remember Powerpoint presentations!

The Solution: Custom Song

The creation of the GMID Anthem was a world first. The song was ‘crowdsourced’ in a 30 minute songwriting session via the live streaming app Periscope {}, where 80 event professionals from all corners of the globe were beamed into the legendary Metropolis Recording Studios {} where hits from Queen and The Rolling Stones have been recorded. They collaborated with SongDivision UK’s amazing musicians, who play with everyone from Adele to George Michael, to create the music and lyrics for the song.

The Results:

The GMID Anthem and accompanying video was embraced by industry leaders around the world and used to kick-off GMID celebrations from New York to London. It captured the passion that event professionals have for what they do and the impact their work has on business and the community, a concise and effective way for the GMID message to be conveyed to politicians and business leaders. Companies and associations even filmed their own videos to the song(see example below), extended the reach and resonance of this unique custom song.
