VIP Recording Studio Experience

Rock Star For A Day!

You've seen recording studios in the movies - the enormous mixing desk, the producer watching the band through the soundproof glass. Now YOU can experience the magic of a world-class recording studio!

Who hasn't dreamt of being a rock star? This team activity is used by leading companies around the world because it engages their entire group - everyone loves music, regardless of age, gender, culture or physical ability.

Your team will write an original song with help from musicians who work with the biggest stars on the planet, then record it with a top audio engineer at the controls, the same way hit songs we hear on the radio are created.

Anyone who loves music will love this once-in-a-lifetime, hands-on experience of how songs are written and recorded. You'll never listen to music the same way again.

Event Details

World-class band + High-energy hit song = success

Everyone is buzzing as soon as they enter the recording studio, filled with flashing equipment and gold records on the walls. A world-class band is waiting for them, playing everyone into the main room with a high-energy hit song.

The SongDivision MC introduces the musicians (listing some of the famous artists they've worked with) and announces the assignment: work together to create a completely original song. We'll work closely with you leading up to the event to determine what you want the song to be about e.g. your brand, company objectives, a new product...

A little bit of fear at this point is both normal and a good thing! It takes people out of their comfort zone and gets them collaborating as equals. Everyone is assured they won't have to sing on their own, and we've never had anyone who didn't love the process after they've gotten over the initial trepidation.

The music for the song is created using talent from the group, then smaller groups of up to 10 are formed to work on the lyrics. Your team won't be changing the words to 'Hotel California', they'll be creating their very own song based on the your company or brand objectives that will resonate with them for years to come.

The song will form the soundtrack to a 'making of' rockumentary, a memento that will live on long after everyone's brief but unforgettable careers as rock stars!

Once the song is written, the SongDivision band will 'lay down' the instrumental tracks, a recording process which blows groups away every time. Then it's time for the vocals - groups of up to 10 don headphones and enter the mythical vocal booth! It's a riot, a fabulous photo opportunity that will be talked about for years to come.

After the vocals, it's time to watch the audio engineer 'mix' the song, with commentary on how it's done (and possibly some kiss-and-tell stories about the artists they've worked with and how they make them sound good!)

To finish off this unforgettable experience, everyone sits back and listens to the 'playback' of their hit song, just like The Rolling Stones or Rihanna. The song will form the soundtrack to a 'making of' rockumentary, a memento that will live on long after everyone's brief but unforgettable careers as rock stars!

Fear Of Singing

The two most common concerns that clients have are a) People will have to sing on their own b) It's going to be cheesy.

VIP Studio Recording Team Building Experiance

Our team building programs aren't an episode of The Voice where people have to sing on their own and be judged. The focus is on collaboration, creativity and communication. Our amazing musicians are there to make the final songs sound fantastic, but the value in the experience comes from the group songwriting process and a collective achievement by your team of something they previously didn't know was possible. We'll certainly make good use of any folks with musical talent in your group - but those who've never played an instrument or crack mirrors when they sing will have just as much fun and get just as much out of the program.

Any thoughts of cheesiness will disappear as soon as the SongDivision musicians are introduced and play a song. They're the real deal - the best musicians on the planet who play with the biggest stars. Not only are they cool in the nicest sense of the word, they're extremely personable and are all fabulous facilitators. They love the SongDivision experience as much as the teams they're helping love it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to sing or be musical?

Not At All! All the singing is done as a group so no one is singled out to perform on their own - unless of course they want to! The focus is on the song writing, it's not a vocal audition like American Idol. We use song writing as the tool to bring teams together and help them be creative. The song is merely the outcome of collective, innovative group ideas. The band will amalgamate the team ideas and turn them into an amazing, personalized song which everyone helps sing at the end. We've never had anyone not want to participate once they see how it all works!

Who owns the song after the session?

The song is owned by the parties who wrote it. That means it is owned by both the participants and the SongDivision musicians who create the song collectively. Should the song make it's way onto national radio, SongDivision would ensure any royalties are shared appropriately! If a company would like to use the song for commercial purposes after the session, e.g. TV or radio advertising, then a licensing fee would be negotiated with SongDivision based on the detail of the license - e.g. countries it was to be aired in, time period etc.

What size group does it work best with?

Based on space limitations, our recording studio experiences are you usually for groups of 30 or less. However there are a handful of studios around the world that can take groups as large as 100 people. Contact us and we can tell you what's possible based on the city your program will be held in.

What are the costs?

This is determined based on the studio, the session length and the size of the band we use. Call us or send an email with your requirements (including budget), we'd love to put together a proposal for you that will suit your needs. Click here to contact us.

What experience do your musicians have?

All the SongDivision crew are highly experienced, professional musicians and have been trained in the proprietary, globally-proven SongDivision process. SongDivision musicians are extremely talented with credits including David Bowie, Queen and Aerosmith to name a few. They also have to have wonderful people skills to be part of the team - they are all trained in group facilitation and can work with all manner of people.
